The graph depicts the percentage of households that owned the electrical appliances changes in one country from 1920 to 2019, while the second graph displays the number of hours people spent doing housework from that country during the same period.
Overall, ownership of all three appliances increased during this period. However, refrigeration's have the highest growth. On the otherhand, the time spent on housework decreased gradually for the same time period.
Washing machines were the most common from all three appliances in 1920, with ownership reaching 40% of the population. Although, it showed some downward trend in 1980. Afterwards, the number rose almost 75% in 2019. Meanwhile, the vacuum cleaners owned by the umber of people climbed steadily, but it did not reach 100% until 2000. In contrast, almost no households had a refrigerator in 1920.
However, ownership increased rapidly and by 1980 there was 100% ownership of refrigerators in every household. The amount of time spent doing housework in household dropped from 50 to 15 hours per week from 1920 to 1980. Eventually, it declined just over 10 hours per week in 2019.
